Donald Alden Nordstrom was born to Hilmer and Elsie Nordstrom on April 2, 1941, on the family farm in the Lund District. Donald, along with his parents and three brothers; Bruce, Robert, and James, continued to live on the family farm where they made many special memories together. Donald was a student of the Lund School until the 8th Grade, going on to later help his parents on the family farm. He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church where he was confirmed as a young man.

On November 24, 1961, Donald married Ethel Jean Walker which was to be the beginning of their beautiful life together. To this union of marriage, three sons were born, Allan (1962), Timothy (1965), and Robert (1967).
Donald and Ethel continued to raise their family on the farm later moving into Melfort, SK where the boys attended school. Along with farming, Donald was employed with the Provincial Government where he completed 30 years, retiring in 1994. He had a strong work ethic, and it was important for him that his sons also knew the value of a hard day’s work. Upon retiring, his love of the farm found them moving back to the Lund District in 2000, where he enjoyed keeping busy around the acreage. His retirement allowed for enjoyment of many interests including hunting, fishing, and spending time with family at the cabin at Lower Fishing Lake.
Donald took pride in his family, and life only became more enjoyable once his grandchildren, Kali, Mason, Morgan, and Simon came along. He was always willing to share stories with them and embraced many new adventures he thought they would enjoy. He liked to read, therefore he was knowledgeable about many topics which often found him winning every debate. He often won, because we never knew which book or newspaper to find the answers he was so passionate about. He always knew best!
Donald will be remembered for his gentle smile, quick wit, and sense of humour, which are qualities we also see today in his sons and grandchildren. He was an amazing father-in-law to Paulette, Angela, and Jeana and loved and accepted each one as his own. Most of all, he loved and honoured his marriage with steadfast loyalty. He was a devoted husband, a dedicated provider, and not one day went by without Ethel hearing the words “I love you”. He was a constant friend and family member, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. You could always count on him!
Donald passed from this life on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Melfort Hospital following a two year battle with leukemia. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ethel of Melfort, along with his sons, Allan (Paulette) of Melfort, Timothy (Jeana) of Melfort, and Robert (Angela) of Prince Albert.
