Obituary for Agnes Holmquist (Schemenauer)

Agnes Holmquist (Schemenauer)
Agnes Magdalena Holmquist (nee Schemenauer)
Agnes was born July 18, 1932 in St. James Sk, and passed away peacefully Dec 30 with family at her side in Melfort, Saskatchewan.
Originally born and raised on a farm in the St. James area, her family moved and settled on a farm near Snowden in 1939. In 1951 she married Ben and they began their life together in Prince George BC. They eventually returned back to Saskatchewan and settled on a farm north of Snowden where they raised their 5 children.
Agnes was a busy farm wife- she drove tractors, hauled grain, grew a large garden and still found time to sew, knit and crochet. Ben and Agnes were able to spend several years retired from farming. They enjoyed time with their grandchildren, camping, and spending winters in Penticton visiting family and friends. Agnes was a terrific cook and baker- she was very well known for her wonderful cinnamon buns.
Most recently, Ben and Agnes had moved off of the farm into a condo in Melfort. Agnes enjoyed playing cards, going on bus trips and cruises with her close friends whom she treasured.
Agnes will be lovingly remembered by her four daughters and one son: Judy (Rick), Stacey (Todd), Derek (Christine); Fay (Randy), Clinton (Rhonda), Karla (Tom); Pam (Gord), Kristin (Jeremy), Brandi (John); Karen (David), Kimberly, Bryce (Tanis); Carl (Kim), Kaitlyn, Kelsey, and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Agnes was predeceased by her loving husband Ben, 13 brothers and sisters, as well as her parents Nicholas and Katherine Schemenauer.
Agnes will always be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She loved being around friends and family whether it be for a meal, playing games, travelling or happy hour. She will be missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Melfort Hospital and the Parkland Nursing home for the kind and loving care they gave our mom.
Celebration of Life Service will he held at a later date.
